Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take Insurance?

We are not in network for insurance carriers, but if your policy covers out-of-network mental health outpatient counseling, we can bill for reimbursement based on what your policy covers. When you call to make your first appointment, we will provide the link to upload your information needed for the benefit check. We will then check your benefits through our billing service, and let you know what is covered and what is not covered through your individual plan.

Do I have to use my Insurance?

No, you are not obligated or required to use your health insurance. If you wish to pay out-of-pocket prices, then we will let you know those costs when you call to make your first appointment. Similarly, if your insurance policy does not cover out-of-network mental health counseling sessions, then you can pay out of pocket, as well. We are also able to accept HSA and FSA plans.

Is there a Sliding Scale Rate?

Counseling is, unfortunately, quite expensive if you are paying out-of-pocket pricing. There are various reasons why this is the case. If you find the cost of counseling out of your budget, then you are welcome to inquire about filling out a Sliding Scale Application form. Sliding Scale rates are based on need, and there are not always sliding scale funds available.

How do you confirm appointments?

We confirm appointments as a courtesy because we realize life can get busy. However, you are always responsible for arriving at your appointment time. If you do not receive a confirmation text, and you are unclear if you have an appointment, then you should reach out. If you do not show up for an appointment, you run the risk of being charged, even if you did not receive a confirmation text.

If I confirm my appointment but then need to cancel, what is the policy for that?

As with most healthcare offices, we require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment without penalty. Life happens, and if there is an emergency or you are sick, you will generally not be charged for a late cancellation. However, if you confirm an appointment and then need to cancel late or you no-show due to a non-emergency situation, then you will be charged $65.00 for a late cancel fee and the Full Session Rate for a no show fee. A late cancellation or a no show means that another client is unable to get in for counseling. If there are multiple emergencies or illnesses, we will likely want to see if there are any underlying issues that can be resolved so that counseling may continue.

How long does a session typically last?

Sessions are 50 minutes long (one counseling hour), unless otherwise scheduled or noted. For Families and Couples, we require a 2 (counseling hour) initial session. This means that the session will generally last for 1 hour and 45 minutes. This gives us an opportunity to not just go through all of the paperwork with each person present but also helps establish the goals for counseling, as would normally be done in an initial session.

How long does the counseling process last?

Counseling can take as long or as short as you make it. There are goals that you will create with your therapist. Some people meet those goals and end therapy. Others want to move to a deeper level of healing and create new goals to work towards. There is no right or wrong way to do this.
